Special Activations
It is our hope that ultimately, every connection made, every insight shared, and every story told will foster a meaningful and substantive treasured experience, further adding to the time-honored tradition of black families coming together for rest and reconciliation on Martha’s Vineyard.
Roll Call - The HBCU "I Was Here" Photo Wall
Clubhouse guests will take and print photos to be placed on the Photo Wall, sign their name, and leave a message. This photo collage will commemorate the Inaugural HBCU Clubhouse event and serve as an archival art piece that will be dedicated to the Moorland-Spingarn Research Center at Howard University for Archival purposes. In addition, as part of the “I Was Here” series, clubhouse guests will have the opportunity to record their HBCU Story and leave an official record about the HBCU Journey, to impart any wisdom, insight or hard-fought battles for future generations to come.
The Good Life - Health + Wealth Checkups
Recognizing that health is the ultimate currency and wealth is the ultimate leverage, the health Checkup Zones will complement the day’s agenda with services and resources in real time. Guests will move from the panel discussion to booths and speed dating-style consultations with professionals and experts for basic health screenings and financial planning and advice. All guests will recived a Good Life Tool Kit.
The HBCU Clubhouse Yearbook
When guests visit the photo station, they may also opt to have their photo included in the HBCU Clubhouse Yearbook. Modeled after a traditional college yearbook, this serves as a tangible keepsake available purchase and for post-event delivery.
HER: HBCU Women's Day - The Wine Down Happy Hour
Powered by a perfect trifecta of Wine, Beauty, and Self-Care, we strip away formalities and move from the "intensity" of conversation about “Hard Truths” to the intimacy of community and restoration. Fashioned as a “wine bar meets restorative retreat,” the Wine Down Happy Hour will be a curated wine tasting meets beauty spa experience that serves as a reprieve and renewed sense of peace and belonging.
Taste of The Diaspora Dinner
The Art + Culture Day will culminate with A Taste Of The Diaspora Dinner, which is a recognition and celebration of our extended heritage throughout the diaspora, the collection of which makes black art, history, and culture so rich.
Ask Me Anything (AMA) Speed Rounds
This curated exchange gives HBCU students and young professionals an opportunity to interface with seasoned executives, entrepreneurs, and experts to receive bite-sized career and life advice. Guests will engage in 10-minute AMA speed round sessions in an intimate group format.
HIM: Cigars & Cognac - The HBCU Men's Day Gentleman's Lounge
HBCU Men’s Day will conclude with a Cigar & Cognac Men’s Lounge. The concept for this lounge is Barbershop meets Cigar Bar, decked out to deliver a relaxed environment just right for high-stakes networking as well as leisure, genuine conversations, and connections anchored in brotherhood, where "Each-One-Teach-One" transforms from theory to practice.
